Helping Beamish Support Communities in the North East

Stephenson-Mohl (SMG) is a proud Corporate Partner of Beamish - Living Museum of the North.  Beamish is a world famous open air museum which brings the history of North East England to life at its 1820s Pockerley, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village, 1940s Farm, 1950s Town and 1950s Spain’s Field Farm exhibit areas.

SMG was founded in Durham in 2017 a stones throw from Beamish Museum and signed up to become a Business Friend of Beamish from the very beginning. Since then we’ve been looking for new ways to support the charity in any way we can - recognising the incredible cultural and educational value the Museum brings to the region and beyond.

As part of our current package of support we have provided funding to support the Health and Wellbeing programmes delivered by the Museum.  We are very pleased to be sponsoring the minibus which provides transport to the 1950’s Aged Miners Homes. One of the newest parts of the 1950’s village, the Miners Homes provide a base for staff and volunteers to provide workshops and support for elderly local residents and those with alzheimers.

The museum provides activities including gardening, wood and metal work and a host of other arts and crafts all in an environment specially designed around the needs of the groups using it day to day - all while being an accurate representation of a typical  Aged Mineworkers’ Homes in the 1950s.

Mark Stephenson, Managing Director of Stephenson-Mohl Group said: “Beamish Museum is a regional and indeed a national asset. It’s a privilege to be able to support its work, especially in enhancing accessibility to benefit some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.”
